Uncomfortable Movie Scenes #9

Anything in the above clip from Fargo make you feel uneasy? There's a lot to choose from.

Changes

The working man’s agreement with the authorities is already half dead. Yes, the deal is collapsing and a new wave of automation will kill it altogether. That is, unless the overseers can pull in the runaway train of advanced technology, our social and political agreement with the elites who own our jobs will become null and void.

The working man's deal goes like this:

If you obey and support the system, you’ll be able to get a decent job. If you work hard at your job, you’ll be able to buy a house, marry a cute girl, and raise a small family. After a few years of paying attention and saving, maybe you can put a pool in the backyard.

This is what our culture taught us. It’s the same deal our parents and grandparents clung to, and it’s even a fairly open deal. You can fight for the political faction of your choice and you can hold any number of religious and secular alliances, just as long as you stay loyal to the system overall.

This deal has been glamorized in many ways, such as, “Our children will be better off than we are,” “home ownership for everyone,” and of course, “the American Dream.” Except it isn’t working anymore.

Among 20- and 30-year-olds, only about half are able to grasp the deal’s promises. That half is working like crazy, putting up with malignant corporatism and trying to keep ahead of the curve. The other half is dejected and discouraged, taking student loans to chase degrees (there’s more status in that than working at McDonald’s), or else they’re pacified with government handouts and distracted by Facebook.

The deal is plainly unavailable to about half of the young generation, but as I noted above, hope dies slowly and young people raised on promises are still waiting for the deal to kick in. It’s all they know.

Regardless, the deal has abandoned them and made them superfluous. The deal is dying because two incompatible things can no longer coexist: New technology and a system geared to old technology.

New machines and methods have made so many jobs obsolete that there aren’t enough to go around anymore. Both North America and Europe are already filled with the unemployed or underemployed children of industrial workers. At the same time, we suffer no shortages; we have an abundance of stuff and a double overload of inane ads trying to sell it all. There’s something important to glean from this: Where goods abound, additional jobs are not required.

We don’t need more workers. Machines are producing plenty of stuff for us, and this becomes truer every day.

The other problem is the system itself. The system was designed to reap the incomes of industrial workers. Everything from withholding taxes to government schools was put in place to maximize the take from an industrial workforce. Whether purposely or simply by trial and error, the Western world was structured to keep industrial workers moving in a single direction and to reap from them as they went. You see, the system is a reaping machine. It always has been.

Technology, however, has advanced beyond the limits of the machine; it has eliminated too many jobs. At the same time, regulations make it nearly impossible for the superfluous class to adapt. Nearly everything requires certification and starting a business is out of the question; fail to file a form you’ve never heard of and the IRS will skin you alive.

The system, however, will not change; the big corporations paid for the current regulatory regime and they still own their congressmen.

28 states list “truck driver” as the most common job. So what happens to all these truck drivers when self-driving trucks hit the roads? Count on it that they will because automated trucks will be safer, cheaper, and will use less fuel. When self-driving trucks appear, millions of truck drivers will be dropped out of the deal, and probably fairly soon.

In addition to that, the very last refuge for the superfluous class – fast food – is experiencing its own robot invasion. Wendy’s just ordered 6,000 self-service ordering kiosks to be installed in the second half of 2016, and KFC’s first automated restaurant went live on April 25.

“The deal” is clearly failing. At the same time, the system is utterly unwilling to change because the people in charge, the people who own us, are making too much money and hold too much power. The impoverishment of a hundred million people in flyover country won’t move them to give it up. Their system, after all, funnels the wealth of a continent to Washington, DC, in a steady stream… and they’ve bought access to that steam. The system must be defended.

So, forget about orderly reform. Certainly there will be talk of reform, and plenty of it… there will be promises, plans, and a small army of state intellectuals dedicated to keeping hope alive. But the system will not reform itself. Did Rome? Did Greece?

If there is to be an answer, it will have to come from the ‘superfluous’ people.

One last point: Don’t make the mistake of blaming technology for all of this. Technology is doing precisely what we want it to do: It’s killing scarcity. And that’s a good thing. Without technology, we all go back to low-tech farming. And if that possibility doesn’t alarm you, you really should try it for a month or two.

Technology should move forward. The death of scarcity is to be welcomed. Our problem is that we’re chained to an archaic hierarchy of dominance with a deeply entrenched skimming class. Either we get past it or we go back to serfdom… or quite possibly worse.

The Sunday Edition (.009)

Welcome to the tardy Sunday Edition. Enjoy all the news that's fit to read and most that's not.The Drifter neglected to mention some of the larger headlines this week because the Drifter's readers are so astute, so likely to be aware of what is happening in the world, that it would be redundant to detail the big items that have already been revealed and inspected. Like Brexit, for instance. Or the ongoing dishonesty of our professional politicians (oh, all right, I'll say something about the graft and corruption somewhere below -- Charles Rangel is the deserving target this week.

• There are now more non-military government employees who carry guns than there are U.S. Marines, according to a new report.

Open the Books, a taxpayer watchdog group, released a study Wednesday that finds domestic government agencies continue to grow their stockpiles of military-style weapons, as Democrats sat on the House floor calling for more restrictions on what guns American citizens can buy. The “Militarization of America” report found civilian agencies spent $1.48 billion on guns, ammunition, and military-style equipment between 2006 and 2014. Examples include IRS agents with AR-15s, and EPA bureaucrats wearing camouflage.

• Federal Court Rules Govt Can Hack Your Computer Without a Warrant, No Probable Cause. Federal government continues to find new inroads into violating 4th Amendment protections that are supposed to be guaranteed to all citizens. Last week, the Supreme Court ruled 5-3 that “evidence of an alleged crime can be used against a defendant even if police did something inappropriate or even illegal to obtain it.” In February, a state supreme court ruled 4-3 that “evidence seized in a person’s private home during a warrantless search can be used against the person under an expanded view of the “community caretaker” clause.”

• University Of North Carolina: CHRISTMAS VACATION Is A ‘Microagression’ Now. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill issued a guide this week which instructs students that Christmas vacations and telling a woman “I love your shoes!” are “microagressions.” The taxpayer-funded guide — entitled “Career corner: Understanding microaggressions” — also identifies golf outings and the words “boyfriend” and “girlfriend” as microagressions.

• Charlie Rangel Found Guilty on 11 of 13 Ethics Violations. A House ethics committee subpanel today found Democratic Rep. Charlie Rangel guilty of 11 of the 13 charges of ethics violations against him.The panel, composed of four Democrats and four Republicans, emerged after private deliberation to announce their findings. “This has been a difficult assignment,” committee chair Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) said. “We have tried to act with fairness, led only by the facts and the law, and I believe we have accomplished that mission.”

• Crazy Pope Francis was asked Sunday en route home from Armenia if he agreed with one of his top advisers, German Cardinal Reinhard Marx, who told a conference in Dublin in the days after the deadly Orlando gay club attack that the church owes an apology to gays for having marginalized them.

Francis responded with a variation of his famous “Who am I to judge?” comment and a repetition of church teaching that gays must not be discriminated against but treated with respect.

He said some politicized behaviors of the homosexual community can be condemned for being “a bit offensive for others.” But he said: “Someone who has this condition, who has good will and is searching for God, who are we to judge?”

“We must accompany them,” Francis said.

“I think the church must not only apologize… to a gay person it offended, but we must apologize to the poor, to women who have been exploited, to children forced into labor, apologize for having blessed so many weapons” and for having failed to accompany families who faced divorces or experienced other problems."

How about apologizing to Vietnam veterans? How about apologizing to the families of over a million noncombatant southerners who died as a result of northern aggression? How about apologizing to God for the millions of abortions committed each year? Apologize? You gotta be kidding, Francis. Well, just goes to show, you can be the leader of a big worldwide church and still be an idiot.

• The gun grabbers tell you they want more gun control in order to keep you safe. But that is the Big Lie.

If they really wanted to limit guns used most to murder people they’d target handguns, which are used in almost half of all homicides. Of 8,124 murders using a firearm in 2014, handguns were used 5,562 times. Rifles were used to murder someone only 248 times. And the dreaded “assault weapon” the politicians make such a kerfuffle over is a subset of rifles, so the number of people killed by those is much lower. That is evidence the government assault on so-called “assault rifles” is just a show designed to confuse, deflect and cause conflict and a means to begin the incremental steps to a complete gun ban.

An assault pistol.
According to the FBI, shotguns were used more than rifles (262 times), and Joe Biden says you ought to buy one to shoot from your front porch to scare intruders away. Knives (1,567 times) were the most-used weapon of choice after firearms, followed by “weapon not stated (830 times), what the FBI calls “personal weapons” (hands, fists, feet, etc., 660 times) and blunt objects (clubs, hammers, etc., 435 times).

Of course, keeping us safe is not the goal of the politicians or the gun grabbers or anyone else who would deign to make your choices for you. If they wanted to keep us safe, they would institute “doctor control.” Doctors kill almost a million soon-to-be-born babies a year and more than 1 million more Americans die each year of iatrogenic deaths (doctor or hospital error) and adverse reactions from prescription drugs. The total number of annual homicides using all means (less than 12,000) pales in comparison to doctor-caused deaths.

It’s not politically correct to say it, but most homicides are gang bangers killing other gang bangers, gang bangers killing people standing near their gang banger targets or gang bangers killing people they’ve targeted for crime. Your chance of dying from a gunshot if you are not a gang banger or not committing suicide is 0.0005417721518987342 percent. The media won’t tell you that.

Children living with a single parent or a parent living with an unmarried partner are most at risk for child maltreatment, which is over eight times the rate of children living with married biological parents.

It Takes a Lot of Nerve (and Money)

The Mission Statement for the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence says it "seeks to secure freedom from gun violence through research, strategic engagement and effective policy advocacy." That's certainly a mouthful, eh? Who knows just exactly what it means? How far will they go in securing my freedom from gun violence?

As a professional wordsmith, whenever I see such a painfully contorted sentence as that offered above, I recognize it as an inability to state a coherent argument So, the logic of language is dropped by misusing words and making up definitions that are more to the "progressives" liking. The new language suits the -purposes of revolution. As Charles Manson is credited with saying, "Nonsense makes sense."

I wondered who funds these people (the CSGV) and then I see that their address is in Washington, DC. These people are highly funded, highly motivated, Washington insiders and eventually they want to repeal the 2nd Amendment. But don't worry, by that time the entire Constitution will be a moot point. It may be already.

Secret funds, fake names, staged incidents,
all dedicated to taking your basic rights.
These people should be treated like the filthy communists they are.

Josh Horwitz is the CSGV Executive Director and his chief communications platform is a blog at the Huffington Post.

Joshua Horwitz, J.D., is Executive Director of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. Mr. Horwitz is a graduate of the University of Michigan and received his law degree from the George Washington University. He is currently a visiting scholar at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the co-author of a book, Guns, Democracy and the Insurrectionist Idea, that was published by the University of Michigan Press in 2009. Mr. Horwitz has spent nearly two decades working on gun violence prevention issues.

Hey now, Canada wants to jail you for what they deem ‘transphobia,’ just because it’s Canada, hoser. We thought fines starting at $250,000 in New York City was ridiculous. But Canada? They saw that as a challenge and are going with a 2-3 year jail sentence. It’s a race to see who can be the most hateful of free-speech. So far Canada is winning, but give NYC a chance. They've always been a leader in removing individual freedom.

All these fines and jail sentences will be issued in the name of tolerance. Plus, it’s only free speech if the government tells you it’s free speech…

Citing the need to make transgender people “feel safe and secure in who they are,” Canada’s Minister of Justice Jody Wilson-Raybould introduced legislation Tuesday that would prohibit discrimination on the basis of “gender identity” or “gender expression” and make anti-transgender “hate propaganda” punishable by up to two years in prison.

The proposed legislation — which was unveiled on the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia — would amend the Canadian Criminal Code to expand existing “hate speech” prohibitions to include any public speech or communication that “promotes hatred” on the basis of “gender identity” or “gender expression.”

Cute Couple
An identical ban on anti-gay “hate propaganda” has been in place for several years and has caused problems for Christians who oppose gay marriage. In 2013, the Canadian Supreme Court upheld the conviction of a Christian street preacher for distributing fliers denouncing homosexual behavior.

On a side note, am I the only one creeped out by someone calling themselves the “Minister of Justice?” I guess one can put “minister” in front of anything these days. Still, the image calls to mind a famous, dark-hooded figure carrying a scythe.

Seriously though, instead of half-assing it, why doesn’t Canada just full-ass it and go the full commie with re-education camps?1 Or maybe that’s what they’ll do post prison time. Parole just isn’t what it used to be, now it comes with training on men in dresses, and women who think they’re men but still have their menstrual cycles in the mens’ rooms.

Make sure re-education camp also involves making girls comfortable around strange men’s penises too. Because as we all know, it’s their problem if they have a problem and NOT the man who thinks he’s a woman.

All this to say, here we are as a Western society. Rules, laws and sanity are being re-written for a fraction of a percentage of people who are afflicted with gender dysphoria. If you dare say the person afflicted with gender dysphoria isn’t what that afflicted person says that person is, YOU are the one punished. Ben Shapiro is famous for saying “facts don’t care about your feelings.” But I’m going to raise him one. Feelings don’t care about facts. Feelings punish facts.

Word of advice to my fellow sane people in the mandatory insane-accepting asylum? Do not cave in on this one. Attempts to control our speech over a tranny, here or in Canada, is just that: thought control, speech control.

You’re not the crazy one.

Farhud

Farhud (Arabic: الفرهود‎) refers to the pogrom or "violent dispossession" carried out against the Jewish population of Baghdad, Iraq, on June 1–2, 1941 during the Jewish holiday of Shavuot. The riots occurred in a power vacuum following the collapse of the pro-Nazi government of Rashid Ali while the city was in a state of instability. Before British and Transjordanian forces arrived, around 175 Jews had been killed and 1,000 injured. Looting of Jewish property took place and 900 Jewish homes were destroyed. By 1951, 110,000 Jews—80% of Iraqi Jewry—had emigrated from the country, most to Israel. The Farhud has been called the "forgotten pogrom of the Holocaust" and "the beginning of the end of the Jewish community of Iraq," a community that had existed for 2,600 years.

The Blog

The Usual Internet Suspects.
The powers that be have succeeded in gaining control of the internet. The internet is now highly organized, constantly monitored, and fast becoming a place where free speech is nonexistent. Did I also mention that the internet also offers unique avenues for propaganda that Facebook and the US government have recognized and made it their goal to guide and form American opinion?

This control has been accomplished by a number of technical and administrative means. Sure, there is still the underweb and Tor and ways to remain anonymous -- if you are so technically inclined. Most people are not.

Lately, Google has switched to an internet navigation protocol called HTTPS. It's referred to as a more secure connection and makes it more difficult for hackers to eavesdrop on your internet business. This, of course, is malarkey. The hackers you have to worry about are the ones employed by the US government. Additionally, many internet users don't want those types of secure connections because it essentially does away with your anonymity.

I am no longer anonymous.
And what's wrong with that, you say? It makes people more responsible for their words, you say? It cuts down on lying and provides a means for authorities to track you if you remind the public Lebron James is a black man or if you say something stupid like you have the right to free speech.

My own little blog, the North Texas Drifter, has been chugging along for a few years now. I talk about any number of things here at NTD, but naturally the loss of freedom and the communist revolution in the US has not gone unnoticed. I don't like what has happened and where we appear to be headed. According to the Constitution of the US, I have a right to say so.

Now, Blogger is owned by Google and, as you probably already know, Google is one of the major players on the internet (and robotics, AI, networking, database programming, and well practically anything tech-related.) and is well-connected to the government and the globalists. You get the picture. They're plugged in and they have tons of money and power. They see themselves as futurists and holding the technological keys to all that is good. So, Blogger and Google have decided there is simply way too much subversion going on and, in claiming the fight against terrorism to be the motivating factor, they have instituted the secure internet protocol that essentially announces your identity while online. If you don't use the new protocol, well then you can't play. You won't be able to connect to many, many sites that do not use the same secure protocol.

Do not take ayuhuasca during an anti-war rally.
That's a lot of news for you to absorb but practically overnight, Google screwed us. The immediate effect on the North Texas Drifter has been to reduce site traffic by 300%. Thanks, Blogger. Thanks, Google.

The way to combat this type of attempted control is to not use Blogger as a blogging platform, build your own website, and set up your own blog with Wordpress. Ta-da, I have accomplished this and you can find my new blog (The Blog) here. Please bookmark and begin checking in once in a while. We're just getting started, but I am posting and the Comments section is open!

Have you been censored by Google?

John Agar

John George Agar, Jr. (January 31, 1921 – April 7, 2002) was an American actor best known for appearing with John Wayne in the films Sands of Iwo Jima, Fort Apache, and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon. In his later career, Agar was the star of B movies, such as Tarantula, The Mole People, The Brain from Planet Arous, Revenge of the Creature, Flesh and the Spur, and Hand of Death. Also, he was the first husband of Shirley Temple.

Agar was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Lillian (née Rogers) and John Agar, Sr., a meat packer. He was educated at the Harvard School for Boys in Chicago and Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest, Illinois and graduated from Trinity-Pawling Preparatory School in Pawling, New York, but did not attend college. He and his family moved from Chicago to Los Angeles in 1942 after his father’s death.

During World War II Agar served in the United States Army Air Corps, mostly at the March Field in Riverside, California, serving as a physical fitness instructor. He was a sergeant at the time he left the AAF in 1946.

Agar's sister was a schoolmate of Shirley Temple. In 1944, Agar escorted Temple to a party held by her boss at the time, David O. Selznick. The two fell in love and were married in 1945. Selznick signed Agar to a five-year acting contract starting at $150 a week, including acting lessons.

Shirley was 17 when she married John.
Agar and Temple worked together in Fort Apache and Adventure in Baltimore. Agar later reunited with John Wayne in two more hits, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon and Sands of Iwo Jima.

Agar and Temple had a daughter together, Linda Susan Agar, in 1948, (who was later known as Susan Black, taking the surname of her stepfather Charles Alden Black). However, the marriage foundered, in part because of Agar's drinking (he had been arrested for drunk driving) and in part because of pressures of their high public profile. Temple sued for divorce in 1949.

Agar's career suffered in the wake of his divorce, but he developed a niche playing leading men in low-budget science fiction, Western, and horror movies in the 1950s and 1960s. John Wayne gave him several supporting roles in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In later years, he worked extensively in television.

"I don't resent being identified with B science fiction movies at all," Agar later said. "Why should I? Even though they were not considered top of the line, for those people that like sci-fi, I guess they were fun. My whole feeling about working as an actor is, if I give anybody any enjoyment, I'm doing my job, and that's what counts."

After his divorce from Temple, Agar remarried in 1951 to model Loretta Barnett Combs (1922–2000). They remained married for 49 years until her death in 2000. They had two sons, Martin Agar and John G. Agar, III.

Agar died on April 7, 2002 at Burbank, California of complications from emphysema. He was buried beside his wife at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California, and was survived by his three children.

Just Because

The Sunday Edition (.008)

TV, junk food bad for fertility.
Do you believe that the world straightens itself out? That when some catastrophe is required to cull out a species, nature makes the arrangements? Well, there was a report this week that 2015 had the lowest fertility rate in recorded history. How could they possibly know? Obvious propaganda but a portent for things to come?

Terrible shooting in Orlando, Florida, at a club for homosexuals called Pulse. Over 50 individuals have been shot by a man suspected of being a muslim terrorist. The anti-gun fallout will be epic. Apparently no one except one security guard was armed. Uh-oh, the shooter is reported to have used an assault weapon. I foresee plenty of news about this incident in upcoming days and weeks.

I'm not going to list all the links, but the economic news is less than encouraging. Most pundits outside the government say we're headed into a catastrophic economic collapse. Thank you very much, globalists, for manipulating the markets and turning us all into communists. Thank you Mr. Obama and a criminal government, for playing it all down so we don't panic or try to move out of the country prior to the coming economic tsunami.

What's going on in Syria? A news blackout? One day it's the end of the world and the source of all this crazy migration and the next day we hear nothing. That's not precisely true. Instead of hearing anything about the war in Syria, the MSM tells us about the rights of gay and transgender Americans.

No more right to free speech in America?
This transgender debate is serving multiple purposes for those looking to destroy the last vestiges of western civilization. Maybe that's a little bit alarmist, but the communists in charge have created another gender class. In New York, they've created 31 classes of gender, like Baskin-Robbins. Of course, it's all insanity and part of the rigged game that's being played out. What do you think is going on while everyone is distracted by men using women's restrooms? The end of free speech is what's happening. The apex of political correctness.

I heard a guy on the radio this week proclaim that war is coming to America. I am inclined to agree. State against federal. Black against white. Conservative versus crazy progressive. UN troops against white, Christian males. Can't happen here?

Do you believe the US government would resort to lies and staged events to convince citizens to give up their freedom? If you don't, you're foolish and I think I'm going to call you Pollyanna from here on out. By the way, love your suit.

Another story this week says Google is fixing Google searches to assist Hillary Clinton in her insane quest for the US presidency. About a month ago, I noticed a significant drop in page hits on the North Texas Drifter. It is like something is being filtered on search results for many of NTD's articles. Me just being paranoid? With as much as I know about computers, networks, databases, search engines, and propaganda, I think it's safe to say the NTD is among those sites unfriendly to Hillary Clinton and therefore targeted to suppress Google searches. Heck, I'll even admit it. Hillary is insane and a danger to world peace and individual freedom.

By the way, "freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose." (Kris Kistofferson)

One more time: do not believe the mainstream press. They are owned and controlled by manipulating liars who want our very lives. Get a clue. Save yourself.

The rats are chewing their way through America but at least we have a choice about which restroom we can use.

He is a loathsome, offensive brute,
yet I cannot look away.
“The average man is what his environment and his superstitions have made him; and their function is to make him an ass. He can’t add up three or four new circumstances together and perceive what they mean; it is beyond him. He is not capable of observing for himself; he has to get everything at second-hand. If what are miscalled the lower animals were as silly as man is, they would all perish from the earth in a year.” -- Mark Twain, The Man That Corrupted Hadleyburg

D-Day

June 6, 1944, 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. General Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which 'we will accept nothing less than full victory.' More than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by day's end on June 6, the Allies gained a foot-hold in Normandy. The D-Day cost was high - more than 9,000 Allied Soldiers were killed or wounded - but more than 100,000 Soldiers began the march across Europe to defeat Hitler.

Medical Leave

As ya'll can see, the North Texas Drifter is down for repairs. Do not think you can simply go gaga and run around saying and doing anything you want because you can't: I am still watching. Have a great UFC 199 and I'll be typing again before you know it.

I am still available for consultation, so leave a message or just drop a check in the mail.

As the nurse began to leave, I told her she would make a great comedian.
"Why?" she asked.
"Because you're leaving me in stitches."
